『帝国ホテル ―失われたライトの遺産―』

フランク・ロイド・ライト（1869年～1959年）は、アメリカの生んだ20世紀最大の建築家の一人である。その生涯を飾る多くの作品の中でも、東京の帝国ホテルは、規模、質、空間構成に独特の長所があった。関東大震災と第二次世界大戦のどちらにも生き残ったこの建築は、年を経るに従って理解と賛辞を受けてきた。 帝国ホテルは、世界からの惜しむ声を後に、1967年、46年の短い生命を終え、大都市東京の中に消えた。内外の人々による運動にも関わらず、帝国ホテルは、姿を消してしまった。ロビー部分のみは、明治村に再建される予定ではあるが、その全体を見るには記録によるよりほかはない。それは単に過去を偲ぶためにではなく、ライトとその業績を本当に知るために、である。 この映画は、現代の都市と建築に関心を持つ全てを対象に、帝国ホテルと、そこに込められかつ現代建築に受け継がれた思想とを追究している。駆使された素材は、写真、スライド、図面、それにあるアメリカ人が撮影した16ミリフィルムを加え、立体的な表現を心掛けた。本作は文部省選定映画にも指定された。 監督：小泉修吉 製作：グループ現代　帝国ホテルを守る会 1968年／28分 ※配信作品の映像は非営利、非商用に限る、個人利用を目的としております。 上映会などをご検討の場合は、グループ現代…
